Animation deals with creating mobile images with the help of a computer. Today?s 3D animation is a developed, innovative form of stop motion animation. The process of creating a 3D animation with 3D computer graphics has indeed become normality these days, however, the fact that old fashioned 2D computer graphics is still prevalent for specific and conventional needs, cannot be undermined.
3D animation can be targeted for a number of reasons. We have all evidenced an exclusive use of 3D animations in films, first hand. Furthermore, the advancement in technology has permitted the acclimatization of highly complex 3D animations in various aspects of business and education as well. The use of 3D animation has also greatly facilitated the work of designers and artists and given them leverage over their contemporaries who are still clinging to older means.
3D animation can be chunked into three main parts, or categories: character sketching and modeling, layout and animation, and rendering.
Character sketching denotes sketch of a character drawn on a paper or a canvas. In the process of character sketching the sketches are drawn to portrait the character from various angles, so as to assist the 3D modeler shape potential 3D model out of it.
The modeling procedure can be done with the help of modeling software. It is in this very modeling phase that the artist?s imagination and creativity is mostly essential. Modeling is all about shaping the artist?s imagination into an object.
The animated objects (skeleton) will have to be correlated with an environment and other relevant objects in order to be efficient and captivating. During the layout and animation phase, the process of dispersing the objects (skeleton) within a scene is accomplished. Suitable texture can be given to the objects within a scene. The environment the object is in, can be stimulated or optimized according to the needs of the task at hand. This is utmost essential in order to create a sense of curiosity and motion.
The most widely used methods for animation are motion capture, Keyframing and inverse kinematics. The final phase during the process of 3D animation is rendering. 3D rendering is all about converting a 3D model into a desired visual image. Light transport rendering and non-photorealistic rendering are two important procedures for 3D rendering.
Now the 3D depiction can be transformed into a video format by importing the scenes as required. The video format so obtained can be easily read, and edited for changes with the assistance of professional video editing software. Necessary mixing can also be performed at this very point in time. The entire process of 3D animation is indeed complicated; however the results it offers is incomparable to any other.
Yes all these characters are loved and cherished by all. Not only kids but we all love to watch cartoons because they are interesting. And today I am surprised to learn about how animations actually work. Kudos!
